George Steele Co. opened their doors for business in 1930 on Broadway Street in uptown Butte. Steele's founder, George Steele, originally sold only propane gas and Maytag ringer washers. George’s two sons, Oliver and Clifton, expanded into the furniture business in 1974, when the company moved to its current location at 800 S Wyoming St.
Over its lengthy history, Steele's continues to exhibit steady growth, opening a second store at 417 Main St. in Deer Lodge in 1989. "We've been lucky," said Dan Steele, who owns and operates the store with his wife, Kim. Dan is the son of Oliver Steele and became the third generation of Steele's to take the helm of the family business.
In 2012, Dan’s only son, Danny, started the rigorous training to eventually be the fourth generation of the Steele’s family business.

Steele's sells quality furniture, including a wide selection of accessories and decorative pieces with delivery service available. The store carries a full line of appliances, including washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers and ranges, and offers installation and delivery. Dan Steele said the company's goal is to enhance the lives of both customers and employees by providing quality products and services. Steele's tries to provide a professional atmosphere without losing the hometown attitude. Steele's also believes in giving back to the community, which supports the business.
